HC issues contempt notice to Chief Secretary

The Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the State Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary for Social Welfare and the Secretary for Women and Child Development in a contempt of court case arising out of non-implementation of HC directions for welfare of transgenders in a Public Interest Litigation.

A bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin issued notices to the three top officials seeking their responses within four weeks. The contempt of court case was filed by Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli stating that the government failed to enforce the directions issued by the HC in a PIL plea filed in 2018.

The HC directions included constitution of State Welfare Board for transgenders.
