Premier League outfit Aston Villa secured a 2-1 victory against Tottenham at Tottenham Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, with Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers scoring to outbid Wilson Odobert’s consolation for Thomas Frank’s side.

After the conclusion of the game, a tussle broke out between players of either side as Ollie Watkins slammed into Joao Palinha during the celebration, which infuriated the Spurs player.

Frank opined that the clash was a result of the Villa striker’s provocation following the triumph as he went down to celebrate the win with the travelling fans.

“I think Ollie is provoking. The way he’s going down to celebrate with the Villa fans and he walks into Joao when he can easily walk around," the Spurs boss said.

This marked the Danish manager’s seventh defeat in his last 13 matches across all competitions with Tottenham. Despite this, the former Brentford boss remains confident he will be given time to improve the team’s poor form.

“I completely feel the support. No doubt about that. Of course, we are disappointed by the result and the fact that we don’t have better results," he said.

“We need to put more and better performances together and keep pushing forward," he added.

This loss comes just a week after the Dane inadvertently angered Tottenham fans by using a cup with the logo of their fierce rivals Arsenal during their defeat at Bournemouth.

“We are all hurt. There is nothing we want more than to get through to the next round, no matter who we face. Playing at home, we had a good opportunity, and unfortunately, we couldn’t progress," Frank said.

“The players gave everything out there, losing a tight game. The season isn’t going perfectly, and I think Ollie is very provoking. The way he celebrates in front of the Villa fans and walks into Joao, he could just as easily walk around. In a competitive environment, that is difficult and can trigger reactions."
