Head constable saves toddler’s life

A Head Constable attached to the Vriddhachalam police station acted swiftly to save the life of a toddler who fell unconscious at an eatery. Though the incident occurred on January 6, it went viral on social media platforms earning public acclaim for the constable’s prompt action.

Police said two women were drinking tea at an eatery in Vriddhachalam when a toddler who was with his mother suddenly slumped and fell unconscious. The mother along with her relative raised an alarm.

The head constable Saravanan who was on routine patrol and outside the eatery rushed inside. He lifted the child and ran for half a kilometre to a private hospital. The doctors at the hospital immediately administered first aid and saved the toddler.

The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. Cuddalore district Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar felicitated Saravanan at the District Police Office on Tuesday.
