A free medical camp for barbers was inaugurated by G.V. Selvam, vice-president, VIT University and Chairman of Vellore International School (VIS), Chennai, at the Police Welfare Centre in Old Town on Friday.

According to a press release, the day-long camp provided general medical check-ups, cardiac evaluations, dental check-ups, and orthopedic assessments, along with Siddha and Ayurveda treatments. The camp was jointly organised by Thalaimurai Peravai, a local voluntary organisation and Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre (SNHRC).

Free medicines and tablets were also distributed to the participants. Those required advanced treatments were referred to Sri Narayani Hospital, where they could avail treatment at subsidized rates. More than 100 persons participated in the camp.

On the occasion, Professor N. Balaji, director, SNHRC, and Sivagami, former District Collector (Vellore), were present, the release said.
