I like challenging characters who are very different from who I am

Taking on the ethereal role of Shaoli in 'Noyontara', Heena Parmar describes this experience as her most formidable yet. What was just meant to be a cameo quickly transformed into a noteworthy presence after viewers connected deeply with her character.

Actress Heena Parmar, currently seen as Shaoli (also called Shalini) in the TV show Noyontara, says the role is the most challenging character she has played so far. In the show, she plays a ghost — the former fiancée of protagonist Dr.

Surjo Sengupta, essayed by Arjun Chakrabarty.Known for her popular portrayal of Anarkali, Heena has also featured in shows like Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Anjaan: Special Crimes Unit and Pandya Store. However, she says she has always been drawn to roles that push her beyond her comfort zone.“As an actor, I like challenging characters who are very different from who I am. Characters I have never thought of playing,” she says. “When I played Anarkali, I worked on myself every single day. Even in Anjaan, when I played a police officer, I didn’t know anything about the body language.

I kept working on it daily, and people still appreciate that role.”Talking about Noyontara, Heena calls Shaoli the toughest role of her career. “She is the most challenging character in all my shows so far. Whenever I get the script, I try to understand how much more I can explore.”She recalls auditioning without hesitation. “The script was written so well, with so many emotions. I didn’t ask questions — I just wanted to do it.” Initially signed for just 15 days because the character was already dead, Heena says the response changed everything. “People loved Shalini so much that they increased my character. It’s been almost 8–9 months now.”
