The Turkish Foreign Ministry described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the “Hitler of our time", claiming his current objective is to “sabotage the ongoing peace negotiations" between Iran and the United States.

The comments came after Netanyahu’s salvo at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over his statement on the peace talks between Tehran and Washington.

In a statement posted on ‘X’, the Turkish Foreign Ministry wrote, “Netanyahu, described as ‘the Hitler of our time’, is a figure whose identity and record are well known. An arrest warrant has been issued against him by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Under Netanyahu’s leadership, Israel is being tried at the International Court of Justice on allegations of genocide."

The statement condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s remarks against Erdogan, stressing it hinges on “baseless, insolent, and false accusations."

“Netanyahu’s current objective is to sabotage the ongoing peace negotiations. Otherwise, he would face trial in his own country and likely be sentenced to prison. The targeting of our President by Israeli officials through baseless, insolent, and false accusations is a result of the discomfort caused by the truths we have consistently voiced on every platform", it said.

“Türkiye will continue to stand by innocent civilians. We will persist in efforts to ensure that Netanyahu is held accountable", the statement added.

Why Netanyahu, Erdogan Are Trading Barbs

Shortly after the U.S. and Iran agreed to a ceasefire earlier this week, the Turkish President cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump about “possible provocations and sabotage" that could undermine the deal.

However, he didn’t mention any specific factors, with the remarks appearing to be a veiled dig at the Israeli Prime Minister.

Responding to the comments, Netanyahu wrote in a post on ‘X’, “Israel, under my leadership, will continue to fight Iran’s terror regime and its proxies, unlike Erdogan who accommodates them and massacred his own Kurdish citizens".

The statement came as Israel continues to launch attacks at Lebanon, threatening the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the U.S.

On Wednesday, Israel hit dense commercial and residential areas in central Beirut, killing at least 300 people and injuring more than 1,000 others.
