The Vigilance Department of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board on Tuesday booked criminal cases against 19 people for illegal water connections in the SR Nagar division.
The violations were reported from Thattikhana section in the division, where the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation recently laid a road. Reportedly, some colony residents took advantage of the situation and discreetly drew pipeline connections on their own.
The Board identified 19 of the residents to have allegedly committed the crime and pressed related charges. It further said that obtaining water or sewerage connections illegally is a crime and attracts penal action. 18-hour disruption
In view of the emergency repair works to be taken up to fix major leaks in the 1,600 mm diameter phase-3 main pipeline from Peddapur, water supply in various parts of the city will be disrupted for 18 hours starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday (January 8).
Works will also be carried out by the Electricity department on the Peddapur feeder at 132KV Kandi substation.
Water supply will be disrupted in areas including Malaysian Township, Madhapur, Kondapur, Fatehnagar, Gopal Nagar, Hafizpet, Mayuri Nagar, Miyapur, Pragathi Nagar, Maytas, Indian School of Business (ISB), Bharat Nagar, Moosapet section, Doyens section, Gayatri Nagar section, Balanagar section, parts of KPHB, Balaji Nagar section, and transmission divisions of BHEL, MIG-I & II, Rail Vihar, University of Hyderabad, and Chandanagar.
