Nashik Police have stepped up efforts to trace Nida Khan, an absconding accused in the high-profile sexual harassment and abuse case linked to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The development comes after Khan’s husband, who was detained and interrogated by police, disclosed her suspected whereabouts.

Khan, who is currently absconding after allegations of a sex scandal and forced conversion racket surfaced at a TCS-linked BPO in Nashik, has been on the run since the case came to light. Sources told India Today that she was earlier identified as an HR head but is actually employed as a telecaller with the company.

In the latest development, acting on the information provided during questioning, police teams conducted a raid at the location where Khan was believed to be hiding with relatives.

However, upon arrival, officers found the premises locked. Investigators have also noted that the mobile phones of both Khan and her relatives are currently switched off, making it more difficult to track her movements.

According to police officials, three dedicated teams have been formed to locate and apprehend the accused.

The search operation is ongoing across multiple locations as authorities attempt to gather further leads.

This came just a day after Nida Khan’s lawyer said that she is pregnant, is in Mumbai and has approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. The application could come up for hearing in a Nashik court.

Khan is accused of neglecting complaints raised by female survivors. It has been reported that Nida discouraged a woman from filing a complaint related to a conversion and harassment case, stating "these things happen" while appearing to side with the accused.

So far, seven other accused individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, which involves serious allegations including molestation, sexual harassment, mental harassment, and hurting religious sentiments.

Those arrested include Asif Ansari, Danish, Shafi Shaikh, Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, and Tausif Attar. Another employee, Ashwin Chainani – the Operations Manager of POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Committee – has been arrested.

The case pertains to incidents reportedly involving employees at a BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik. In total, nine cases have been registered so far.

Given the gravity and sensitive nature of the allegations, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the direction of the Nashik Police Commissioner.

The SIT is tasked with conducting a comprehensive and impartial probe into the matter.

In a parallel development, two of the arrested accused are scheduled to be produced before a court as their police custody period comes to an end.

The SIT is expected to seek an extension of their custody for further interrogation.

The court’s decision is likely to play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, TCS has responded to the controversy, stating that it has not received any formal complaints through its internal ethics or Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) mechanisms related to the individuals involved in the case.

TCS further stated that it has engaged independent expert teams to assist with its internal review and has set up an oversight committee to examine findings and ensure due process.

The case has triggered significant public concern, particularly due to the nature of the allegations, which also include claims of coercion related to religious practices.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation and ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice.
