Chitrangda Singh, who was in Ahmedabad recently as one of the showstoppers for the Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2025, says that she had a good time in the city. Chitrangda, who was recently seen in Housefull 5, shares, “It’s always a delight to be in Ahmedabad.

On this trip, I ordered nylon khaman and it was yummy. I love the way Gujarat celebrates festivals. Long back, I witnessed the garba magic in Ahmedabad. I wish I could be in Ahmedabad during Navratri. I was also lucky to witness the famous kite festival at the Rann of Kutch once. I have never seen so many people flying kites together. It was an unforgettable experience.”She adds, “For me, festive fashion has always been about Indian traditional wear.

I do not like Indo-western takes on Indian clothes. I love wearing saris, and colours like red and orange are among my favourites.”‘I was a bit scared when I was offered Housefull 5’Talking about her overall experience of doing Housefull 5, Chitrangda says, “I was a bit scared when I was offered the film because it’s a big, successful franchise and I haven’t done comedy before. It’s comparatively easier to make people cry.

Making audiences laugh is the hardest thing to do. While I was nervous, I was excited too because I felt it was important to do different things. Things can easily become monotonous if you are playing similar kinds of characters.

So, it was an intentional decision to try and do something different.”She adds, “I learnt a lot on the set while working with the likes of Johny Lever, Akshay Kumar and Chunky Panday. The way they improvise on the sets is inspiring.

It’s not a situational comedy, it’s completely slapstick and for me, it was like jumping into the well, as it’s very tough. You need to maintain a certain balance while doing such comedies. Otherwise, it can look over the top and fake. Eventually, I had great fun and felt a certain sense of freedom.

‘I am producing an interesting biopic’Chitrangda, who turned producer with the sports drama Soorma (2018), is producing another biopic. She says, “Producing is not something I do on a regular basis. Films that I produce are my passion projects. When we made Soorma, a story that we felt needed to be told, we were clear that it had to be made without corrupting the story, which can happen if you are thinking of turning it into a masala film. It was the story of an inspiring sportsman (hockey player Sandeep Singh), and it was important to respect his journey. I am producing another biopic-an inspiring story of a 19-year-old, and we have been working on it for the last three years. It’s another passion project, and we want to get everything right before it’s ready for release.”
