KOLKATA: The 10th International Conference on Data Management, Analytics and Innovation (ICDMAI 2026) concluded on Saturday at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, reinforcing its role as a key platform linking academic research with industry requirements in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence and data-driven innovation.
The three-day conference was held from January 9 to 11, marking the second consecutive year that the institution hosted the international forum.Organised by the Society for Data Sciences, ICDMAI 2026 was conducted as an Official Pre-Summit Event of the AI Impact Summit, lending it enhanced national and international relevance. The conference drew more than 200 participants each day, including policymakers, academics, industry leaders, researchers, students, and representatives from international organisations, who engaged in discussions on artificial intelligence, data analytics, innovation, and responsible technology deployment.Demonstrating strong research engagement, the conference received 373 paper submissions from national and international institutions. Following a rigorous peer-review process, 81 papers were selected for presentation. The research covered a wide range of domains, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data management, analytics, and innovation, highlighting both theoretical advances and applied solutions aligned with industry needs.
A significant outreach initiative announced during the conference was the allocation of 100 hours of GPU computing resources to St. Xavier’s College. The support, extended by Amol Goje, President of the Society for Data Sciences, is expected to strengthen hands-on research, experimentation, and applied learning in artificial intelligence and machine learning among students and faculty.ICDMAI 2026 was organised under the leadership of Dr. Saptarsi Goswami and Prof.
Kanadpriya Basu, the Organising Chairs, whose coordination ensured a structured technical programme and consistent academic standards throughout the event. Reflecting on the milestone edition, Prof. Basu said, “With its tenth edition, ICDMAI had reaffirmed its position as a significant forum for advancing research, policy dialogue, and institutional collaboration in artificial intelligence and data-driven innovation, while strengthening connections between education, governance, and global perspectives.
”The conference was hosted with the active encouragement and institutional support of Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Under his leadership, the college has continued to promote research-led initiatives, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global academic engagement, with ICDMAI emerging as a key platform for enhancing research culture and student exposure to emerging technologies.The inaugural session was addressed by Binod Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, the Chief Guest of ICDMAI 2026. He highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and analytics in governance, education, and institutional decision-making, emphasising the need for informed policy frameworks and closer collaboration between academia and government to harness AI for public good.The Valedictory Distinguished Lecture was delivered by Dr. Anindita Ganguly, Director of Technical Education, Government of West Bengal. She spoke on the evolving responsibilities of technical education authorities in an AI-driven ecosystem and underscored the importance of platforms such as ICDMAI in bridging academic research, institutional practice, and policy formulation.International and diplomatic engagement was reflected through the presence of Samidha Redkar, Deputy Public Affairs Officer, U.S.
Consulate Kolkata, who attended as the Inaugural Guest, highlighting the importance of global academic collaboration and dialogue in artificial intelligence and data sciences.Among the distinguished invited speakers was Rangina Hamidi, educator, author, and former Minister of Education of Afghanistan. A prominent advocate for women’s education and empowerment, and founder of Kandahar Treasure, Afghanistan’s first women-owned social enterprise, she brought a global and human-centred perspective to discussions on education, leadership, and the social dimensions of technology.The conference was supported by a broad network of partners. Organising Partners included the Society for Data Sciences and St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Academic Partners comprised Adamas University and the A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta. Hospitality support was provided by the International Institute of Hotel Management, while community partners included Women in AI, Coding Ninjas, and 10x Club.
Wizertech Informatics Pvt. Ltd. served as the Technology Partner, and Friends FM 91.9 acted as the Official Radio Partner, extending the conference’s outreach to a wider public audience.
