The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is set to kick off the registration process for the Joint Admission Test for Master’s (JAM) 2026 on September 5, offering aspiring postgraduate students a pathway into premier MSc and integrated MSc–PhD programmes across IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).Candidates can submit their applications through the official JOAPS portal at jam2026.iitb.ac.in. The registration window will remain open until October 12, 2025. The examination is scheduled for February 15, 2026, and will be conducted in two shifts across multiple test centres nationwide.According to the official brochure, around 3,000 seats are available across 22 IITs for the 2026–27 academic session, highlighting the highly competitive nature of the entrance test.
IIT JAM 2026: Eligibility criteria
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of their undergraduate programme. There is no upper age limit, but applicants must ensure completion of their degree before admission and submit valid graduation proof by the deadlines set by the respective institutes.

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned here to apply for the IIT JAM 2026 exam:
- Visit portal: Go to jam2026.iitb.ac.in
- Register: Create a new account with personal details
- Fill form: Enter academic info and programme preferences
- Upload documents: Photo, signature, category/PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Pay fee: Rs 1,000 for female/SC/ST/PwD, Rs 2,000 for others
- Submit & print: Review form, submit, and save confirmation
Application fee structure
The application fee for IIT JAM 2026 is non-refundable under any circumstances. Candidates applying for a single test paper are required to pay Rs 1,000 if they belong to the female, SC, ST, or PwD categories, while all other candidates must pay Rs 2,000.
