Ilia Topuria has cleared the air after a report caused confusion about his personal life. On Tuesday, the UFC champion said he has not been called to testify for gender violence. His statement came one day after Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported that he had been summoned to court on January 7.
The report claimed the hearing was linked to a gender violence case involving his former partner, Giorgina Uzcategui. That headline spread fast and drew strong reactions online. However, Ilia Topuria says that claim is false. In a clear public statement shared on Wednesday, the Spanish-Georgian fighter explained that the court visit is only about a family and administrative matter. According to him, the issue is related to his daughter’s travel outside Spain.
He also said he has not seen his daughter for four months, despite trying many times. Ilia Topuria stressed that this legal process began with a divorce case that he himself filed.
He also asked the media to protect his child’s privacy and stick to verified facts.

He added, “This headline had to be modified later as it was not true, since I have never been called to testify for this reason.” Topuria made it clear that he is not avoiding justice. He said, “Something I will gladly do when required.”The fighter explained the real reason behind the court summons. He stated, “The summons is exclusively related to a family and administrative matter linked to a trip outside Spain of my daughter.”Topuria also shared his pain as a father. He said, “I have not been able to see her for four months despite having tried on numerous occasions.”Looking back at the case, he explained how it started. “The reality begins with a divorce petition filed by me after weeks of negotiation following our separation,” he said. He added that after refusing what he called “illogical economic demands,” a complaint was later filed and is now being reviewed by the justice system.Topuria ended his statement with faith and hope. “I still trust in God, in justice and in people. I know that the truth will prevail,” he said. He also asked the media to respect facts and protect minors, saying, “The truth only has one path.”Also Read: Ilia Topuria And Giorgina Uzcategui Combined Net Worth In 2025: UFC Career, Business Success, Wife Domestic Abuse Claims And More
