GURGAON: Three days after the body of a man was discovered on a footpath along Outer Road in IMT Manesar on Wednesday morning, IMT Manesar police registered a murder case on Saturday.
Police identified the victim on Friday as Kumar Gaurav Singh, 38, a native of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh (UP). He was residing in Kankrola village here in Gurgaon and worked as an accountant in a transport company. After his identification, an autopsy was conducted on Saturday, and a murder case was registered.According to the police, the victim was killed after being struck on the head with a heavy object. "As soon as the information was received, a team reached the spot and took possession of the body.
He died from severe injuries to the head and face. After his identification, we got his autopsy conducted on Saturday and have also registered a murder case," a police officer said.
The IMT Manesar police station received a call around 8 am on Wednesday reporting a blood-soaked body lying in front of plot no. 139 in Sector 7. Officers found the man in a pool of blood, and a pair of leather slippers was found near the body. While police are yet to arrest the suspects in the case, they said that apparently, the victim was sitting there with acquaintances and was attacked following an argument.
He was then struck on the head and face with a heavy object during the night.Following an inspection of the scene, the body was sent to the mortuary. Police showed the body to workers in nearby factories, but no one was able to identify him initially. A forensic team collected evidence, including blood samples, possible weapon marks, and CCTV footage from the vicinity. "We have got the vital clues and will soon nab the suspects," a police officer said.Police have booked an unidentified person under section 103 (1) of BNS at IMT Manesar police station.
