 Neeraj Chopra to participate in the Paris Diamond League, set to return to Paris DL after eight years

NEW DELHI: Neeraj Chopra, the current javelin throw world champion, is scheduled to compete at the Paris Diamond League 2025 on June 20 at the Stade Sebastien-Charlety, as per ANI quoting a report from Olympics.com.

This will be his second Diamond League appearance of the season, following his participation in Doha. Chopra last competed in the Paris Diamond League in 2017, finishing fifth with a throw of 84.67m, behind winner Johannes Vetter of Germany, who achieved 88.74m. Although eligible for the 2024 event, Chopra opted out to focus on the Paris Olympics.Earlier this year, Chopra set a new national record with a throw of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League in May, surpassing his previous best of 89.94m from the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League. Despite this achievement, he placed second to Germany's Julian Weber, who threw 91.06m.In his latest competition at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow, Poland, on May 23, Chopra managed a best throw of 84.14m under wet conditions, again finishing second to Weber, who threw 86.12m.Chopra began his 2025 season in April at the Potch Invitational Meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa, winning with a throw of 84.52m.

He is also listed to compete at the Golden Spike athletics meet in Czechia on June 24 and will headline the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5.The top javelin throw athletes in the Diamond League series will advance to the 2025 Final in Zurich on August 27-28.
