The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released the RESPOND Basket 2025, comprising research problem statements aligned with ISRO’s current and future mission requirements.
On December 16, ISRO Chairperson Dr. V. Narayanan released the RESPOND Basket 2025 at the inauguration of the ISRO–Academia Day.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Narayanan underscored the vital role of academia in contributing innovative ideas, advanced research and skilled human resources to India’s expanding space programme and highlighted the impact of the RESPOND programme in addressing complex technological challenges through collaborative research.
As part of the programme, ISRO scientists delivered detailed technical talks on the research topics listed in the RESPOND Basket 2025, providing academic participants with deeper insights into mission-driven requirements, expected outcomes, and potential areas of collaboration.
The RESPOND BASKET comprises the most urgent and important research problems identified by ISRO and Department of Space Centre/Units on the basis of ISRO’s upcoming programmatic R&D requirements.
In the coming decades, ISRO is undertaking several important missions such as setting up of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station, the Chandrayaan-4 Moon Sample Return Mission, Gaganyaan continuation missions, a Venus orbiter, and human landing on the Moon.
ISRO said that the RESPOND Basket 2025 provides a comprehensive set of research themes aligning with India’s dynamic and evolving space program, focusing on emerging areas such as quantum computing, remote sensing launch vehicles/materials, and advanced satellite communication systems.
An individual or group(s) of scientists and faculty members affiliated to any academic institution or autonomous R&D institution are eligible to submit proposals.
The RESPOND Basket 2025 invites submission of research proposals from various premier universities, and other recognised academic and R&D institutions in areas relevant to ISRO’s upcoming missions and national priorities.
The last date for submission of research proposals is January 31, 2026. The submission of these RESPOND BASKET 2025 proposals will be in ‘I-GRASP portal’.
