Jagga Reddy donates ₹10 lakh to cancer patient on Rahul Gandhi’s birthday

Senior Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy donates Rs 10 lakh to a cancer patient for treatment in Sangareddy district marking the birthday of Rahul Gandhi on June 19, 2025.

In a heartwarming gesture marking the birthday of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Sangareddy former MLA and senior Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy donated ₹10 lakh to a cancer patient, Hari Krishna Prasad.

Prasad, a resident of Tallapalli village in Sangareddy constituency, has been battling cancer for the last three months. Employed as a childminder at a Gurukul, Prasad earns a meagre monthly salary of ₹13,000, which is barely enough to meet his family’s daily needs.

With wife Shailaja, and two young children, Babu, studying in Class 1 and another in LKG, the family was pushed into desperation, facing mounting hospital bills and an uncertain future.

Moved by the family’s plight, Mr. Reddy offered to bear the entire cost of treatment. On Rahul Gandhi’s birthday, the MLA personally handed over ₹10 lakh to the family and assured them that all previous treatment expenses would be covered through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Prasad’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Reddy stating that it brought hope when they had none left.

Mr. Reddy has also helped financially several cancer patients earlier. This year, he supported a woman with ₹10 lakh and another young woman with ₹6 lakh for their treatment.
