'Jana Nayagan' gets green signal in UK; Thalapathy Vijay starrer bags BBFC 15 rating amid pending India CBFC approval - Report

Jana Nayagan secured UK censor approval with a 15 rating, citing strong language and violence. Meanwhile, India's censor board delay continues, prompting producers to approach the Madras High Court. The film's release remains uncertain amid reports of potential issues in Saudi Arabia as well.

'Jana Nayagan' has finally got its first censor approval and sadly it's not from India. The film has been cleared in the United Kingdom by the British Board of Film Classification. The BBFC has given the movie a 15 rating as reported by Money Control website. This means people aged 15 and above can watch it in UK theatres. Reports say that the BBFC mentioned strong language, frequent violence, sexual activity, and drug misuse as reasons for this rating. This news has brought some relief to fans and this is especially for those in the UK.

Indian censor delay continues

While the UK release is now possible, the situation in India is still tense.

'Jana Nayagan' is yet to receive its certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. Because of this delay, the planned January 9 release is under question. The producers say they already made the dialogue changes that were suggested earlier. Still, the certificate has not come. Reports say some dialogues are seen as sensitive and may hurt religious feelings.

Court steps in to hear the issue

As the time was running out the producers reportedly moved the Madras High Court.

KVN Productions filed a plea asking the court to look into the delay. During the hearing, the CBFC informed the court that the film will be reviewed again. For this a reconstituted committee has been formed. This means a fresh group will watch the movie once more. The court has asked the board to submit records and give clear answers. The next hearing is expected shortly.

Until then, the release plan remains unclear.

Overseas release talk and fan worries

Apart from India and the UK, there is also talk about other countries. There are unconfirmed reports that Jana Nayagan might face trouble in Saudi Arabia. Social media is full of discussions saying the film has not yet received clearance there. Some chatter says the team may reapply with small cuts or muted portions. At the same time, there are reports saying the film is set to release in Saudi Arabia on January 9 at VOX Cinemas, though the age rating is still not known.

Nothing is officially confirmed yet.In conclusion, the situation seems tense for 'Jana Nayagan'.
