Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra lauded the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-1 for their pivotal role in combating extremism, acknowledging their bravery in challenging circumstances. The battalion, established in 1880, was honored with the 'Eastern Star' medal post-independence. Tragically, 13 JAP-I personnel have sacrificed their lives fighting extremists. An Anand Mela is also underway, showcasing diverse products and supporting base camp needs.
Ranchi: Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra on Monday praised the role of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-1 in tackling extremism in the state.Mishra, who attended the 146th foundation day of the battalion at the JAP-I Ground in Doranda, said, “This battalion has played crucial role in fighting extremism in the state and has served in most difficult and trying circumstances.
They have fought off several assaults by the extremists. I do not have words to describe their contribution.”She assured that the accommodation problems faced by JAP-I personnel would be considered by the police headquarter.JAP commandant and Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said JAP-I was founded as New Reserve Force in 1880. He stated that after independence the Centre conferred the battalion with ‘Eastern Star’ medal for its valour and excellence.
“After formation of Jharkhand, 13 JAP-I personnel have been martyred fighting the extremists," Ranjan said.Mishra also inaugurated Anand Mela at JAP-I ground on the occasion. The fair would continue till Thursday. A total of 95 stalls displaying clothes, warm wears including Kashmiri products, different types of delicacies and utensils. All companies of the battalion have also put up stalls selling traditional items like Khukri (Nepali knife) and the foods used in hilly areas like Darjeeling.A jawan said “Each company is displaying different items. The profit earned in the fair would be spent on meeting the requirement of their base camps.”
