The ‘Job Mela’ conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), the employment exchange, and SEEDAP at Srikalahasti focused on the lesser-skilled youth and students who are ready to embark on part-time employment.
Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, who formally inaugurated the job mela, announced that it was part of the initiative announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to generate and fill 20 lakh jobs in the State.
“The pay bracket for the jobs offered in this mela is ₹13,000–₹20,000, which will meet the immediate requirements of students who can work part-time or for those youth who have to become breadwinners of their families,” Mr. Reddy noted.
The selected candidates will receive free skill development training to meet the requirements of the job. The fifteen companies that participated in the headhunt selected 163 out of the 312 candidates who attended the Mela. Of those, 37 were further shortlisted for interviews.
The MLA also announced the launch of a Skill Development Centre at the Sri Kalahastheeswara Institute of Technology (SKIT), which is run by the Srikalahastheeswara Swamy Devasthanams.
