Journalist Chased In Noida, Car's Rear Window Smashed By 2 Men On Scooter; One Arrested

A woman journalist working with a television news channel was allegedly chased by two men on a scooter from her Noida office to the DND Flyway late on Thursday night. Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the case and launched a probe to trace the other.

According to an NDTV report, the journalist, who lives in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, was driving home from her workplace in Noida when two men on a scooter began following her. The men allegedly signalled her to stop, and when she refused, they continued to tail her at high speed.

The woman told police that the duo later hurled a heavy object at her car, shattering the rear windshield. Despite the attack, she did not stop and continued driving towards Delhi. Near the DND Flyway, she spotted a group of cab drivers and sought their help. She then parked her vehicle and called the police control room.

A team reached the spot, and her statement was recorded. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered under sections related to stalking and criminal intimidation, among others.

A police officer said the CCTV footage confirmed that the incident took place in Noida. One of the accused was arrested from his residence on Friday morning and is currently being interrogated to determine the motive behind the incident and the sequence of events leading up to the chase.

During questioning, the arrested man claimed that he and his accomplice were following the journalist after she allegedly hit their scooter. However, police said this version is being verified as part of the ongoing investigation.

The second accused remains absconding, and police teams are conducting searches to trace him.
