Jose, Kalamkaval features Mammootty, Vinayakan, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, and Gibin Gopinath in key roles. ETimes review for the movie read, "Mammootty remains the film’s biggest asset, delivering a performance sharpened by stillness and cold precision. Vinayakan matches him with a brooding, tightly coiled presence, though the screenplay could have offered him more depth. Despite strong performances, the uneven momentum prevents Kalamkaval from fully blooming into the gripping crime drama it aims to be.
