Two Yemeni students went missing at Valappu beach near Puthu Vypeen after venturing into the sea for a bath around 12:30 p.m. on Monday (June 2).

The missing students were identified as Abdul Salam, 21, and Jubran, 22. They were part of a nine-member group of foreign students — seven Yemenis and two Sudanese — from Rathinam College, Coimbatore.

“All nine students entered the sea. While the others managed to swim to safety, the two went missing,” said the Coastal Police.

A search operation involving the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Coastal Police, Marine Enforcement, and the scuba team of the Fire and Rescue Services continued late into the evening.
