Patna: Nearly 30 children fell ill on Wednesday in Barh block of Patna district after after being administered anti-filarial drug.The children from a govt school in Rampur diara area in Barh complained of stomach ache, after which they were taken to a primary health centre in Athmalgola.Patna civil surgeon Dr Yogendra Prasad Mandal said the children were monitored and sent back to their homes. “They complained of stomach ache, which could be a gastroenteritis problem. They were all stable and sent to their homes,” said Dr Mandal, adding there was no need to panic and such things happen during drug administration.Similar cases were also reported from a govt school in Khaira block of Jamui, where 10 children fell sick and complained of vomiting, headache and fever after consuming the drug.The health department started the mass drug administration against filariasis from Feb 10, and this campaign will continue until Feb 28. This campaign aims to cover 8.97 crore people.
