Krushal Ahuja, known for positive roles, ventures into darkness with 'Bindi,' portraying Aviraj, a ruthless character driven by profit and power.
Actor Krushal Ahuja, who has been known for portraying layered but largely positive characters, is stepping into a darker space with his new show Bindi. The series revolves around a mother-daughter relationship tested by injustice and survival, beginning inside a jail where the mother, Kajal, gives birth to her daughter, Bindi.“The story starts in jail because Kajal is trapped in a situation where she isn’t at fault. She raises Bindi there for the first seven years, until the law separates them. What follows is an emotional journey where Bindi, as she grows up, discovers the truth about her mother’s imprisonment and fights for her justice,” says Krushal. At the centre of the conflict is Aviraj, the character played by Krushal. Unlike his earlier roles, Aviraj is unapologetically negative. “This is the first time I’m doing such a dark character. My earlier characters—Arjun in Rishto Ka Bandhan or Anirudh—were flawed but good at heart. They had guilt, they made mistakes, but they wanted to do right. Aviraj is different. He lies, cheats, steals, and runs illegal businesses. He has no guilt. He only cares about profit and power,” he explains. For Ahuja, the decision to take up Bindi was clear. “The story is strong, emotional, and impactful. And for me, the challenge of playing someone this dark, which is also a lead role, was reason enough to say yes.”
