Like-minded political parties in Tamil Nadu, opposed to the ruling DMK, should come together in the larger interest of unseating the Dravidian major from power in the 2026 Assembly elections, Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan said on Saturday (October 25, 2025).

Speaking at the party’s general council meeting at Pallavaram in Chennai, Mr. Vasan reiterated his call for a united and strong alliance against the DMK in next year’s election. He also urged the functionaries to work hard to ensure the victory of the AIADMK-led alliance in the State and secure his party’s representation in the Assembly.

The party’s general council passed 18 resolutions, including those thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Council of Ministers for GST rate rationalisation and encouraging Swadeshi products, hailing Operation Sindoor, criticising the DMK government of failing to fulfil its poll promises made in the run-up to the 2021 Assembly elections, and urging the State government to construct a dam at Rasimanal and check dams across the Cauvery.

The TMC(M) general council also passed resolutions demanding a permanent solution to the issues faced by fishermen in the Palk Bay, raising concerns over the increase in crimes against women in Tamil Nadu, and the rise in electricity tariff and property tax, and urging the State government to create opportunities for the upliftment of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minorities.
