Lokayukta books officers for issuing death certificate for living person

Upalokayukta B Veerappa has directed officials to register a suo motu case against some officers following media reports that they issued a death certificate to a living person in Belagavi district.

The case has been registered against Village Administrative Officer of Sutagatti in Saundatti taluk Neela Murgod, Revenue Inspector, Murgod, R.S. Patil, Tahsildar Mallikarjun Heggannanavar and Assistant Commissioner, Bailhongal, Praveen Jain.

They are facing the charge of issuing a death certificate for Eerappa Abbai, who is very much alive, in Sutagatti.

Investigation is on, said a release.
