England managed 247 after their openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley got them off to a flier. But an inspirational spell from Mohammed Siraj led the way back for India as the pace duo of him and Prasidh Krishna accounted for eight wickets, allowing India to catapult themselves back into the contest.
Earlier on Thursday, only 64 overs were bowled, despite extended play, after rain caused an initial delay. Overcast skies persisted throughout the day in London, and after losing their fifth consecutive toss, India struggled against England’s pace attack in challenging conditions. The batters fought hard but lost six top-order wickets, barely managing to cross 200 by stumps.
The weather on Saturday (Day 3 of the Test) is expected to be clear all day. As per the UK Met Office, the chances of rain are less than 5 % throughout the day. Temperatures will remain steady at 19-21°C between 11 AM and 7 PM local time (3:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST).
