The much-awaited sequel 'Luka Chuppi 2' has hit a pause. The romantic comedy, starring Varun Dhawan and Sharvari, was earlier expected to move into pre-production in early 2026.However, as reported by Mid Day, the film has now been pushed back by nearly six to eight months.
The delay comes at a time when fans were hoping for a quick update on the sequel to the 2019 hit Luka Chuppi.
Laxman Utekar’s packed schedule
Reports say that the main reason behind the delay is director Laxman Utekar’s tight work calendar. He is currently deeply involved in Eetha, a biopic based on Tamasha artiste Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, with Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. The project needs full attention and careful handling. Because of this, 'Luka Chuppi 2' is being kept on hold so that it does not feel rushed or incomplete.
Once Eetha wraps up by mid-2026, the director plans to shift his full focus to the sequel.
Varun and Sharvari are busy with other films

He is also expected to work on Bhediya 2. Sharvari, on the other hand, is currently filming. 'Yeh Prem Mol Liya' with Sooraj Barjatya. With both actors occupied, aligning dates has become another challenge.
'Border 2' and physical transformation
Varun Dhawan’s work on 'Border 2' has required strong discipline and focus. The film involves long outdoor shoots in tough locations. Clean food, high-protein meals, good carbs, and proper rest are helping the 'Border 2' actor to stay fit during demanding schedules. This level of preparation has also affected his availability for other projects. For now, 'Luka Chuppi 2' remains in the planning stage. A final decision on the story and timeline is expected to be taken by late 2026.
