4-time MP Supriya Sule fails to secure NCP (SP) victories on her turf

PUNE: Three sitting MPs from Pune district failed to impact the municipal council elections, underscoring a perceptible shift in voters’ mood across key rural and semi-urban pockets. In Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, represented by four-time MP Supriya Sule, the NCP (SP) drew blanks in the local civic body elections in Bhor, Saswad, Jejuri, Baramati, Morgaon, Indapur, and Daund, indicating an erosion of influence in its strongholds..Local leaders said Sule’s limited focus on the civic elections affected the morale among traditional supporters and dampened mobilisation on the ground.NCP (SP) also faced a series of unexpected reverses in its bastions.

In Shirur Lok Sabha constituency, represented by actor-turned-politician Amol Kolhe, a two-time MP, the party failed to win a single municipal council president’s post across key towns including Junnar, Manchar, Rajgurunagar, Chakan, Alandi, Shirur, and Phursungi.Kolhe conducted meetings, rallies, and intensive campaigning across these areas, but the efforts did not yield results. He too did not answer phone calls or text messages seeking his response to the results.Shiv Sena MP from Maval Shrirang Barne was unable to translate his parliamentary stature into electoral success at the local level.
