Conor McGregor teases his UFC comeback, eyeing the White House card in June. Possible opponents include Floyd Mayweather or Michael Chandler, but drug-testing hurdles remain.

Conor McGregor (X)
Nobody has championed Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC quite like Conor McGregor himself.
And the Irishman is once again stoking comeback flames.
Taking to X, the former two-division champion fired off another unmistakable tease.
“It will be my great honour to ‘MAKE UFC GREAT AGAIN!’," wrote the Irishman.
It’s the latest in a series of calculated hints that suggest McGregor’s long exile from the octagon may finally be nearing its end.
White House Target, Big Stakes
McGregor is reportedly ramping up training with his sights set on the UFC’s proposed blockbuster White House card in June. If it comes together, it would be one of the most surreal events in MMA history — and a fitting stage for the sport’s biggest star.
But who would be standing across from him?
Two Paths, One Spotlight
One option is pure spectacle.
McGregor has floated the idea of a rematch with Floyd Mayweather — nearly a decade after their record-shattering boxing bout. This time, McGregor insists the fight should happen where he believes he holds the advantage: inside the octagon.
While Mayweather remains retired from professional boxing, he’s stayed active through exhibitions against the likes of Logan Paul and John Gotti III. An MMA clash, however, remains firmly in fantasy territory.
The other, more realistic — and arguably more explosive — option is Michael Chandler.
The two coached opposite teams on The Ultimate Fighter 31, but their long-awaited showdown never materialised after a scheduled 2024 bout collapsed due to McGregor’s injury. Chandler hasn’t let it go.
He’s openly calling for the fight, eager to face McGregor on the White House card and promising a “good old-fashioned beatdown" under the brightest lights imaginable.
What’s Holding It Up
McGregor hasn’t fought since suffering a devastating leg break against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. While he’s openly hyping what he calls “The Return," there are still hurdles to clear: most notably, drug-testing.
The Irishman remains under suspension following a whereabouts violation last September, and UFC CEO Dana White has been cautious, refusing to publicly confirm anything.
For now, there’s no official green light.
