Reuben Gauci, High Commissioner of Malta to India, visited the office of the Kerala State Higher Education Council on Wednesday as part of his official visit to the State.
During the visit, Mr. Gauci held discussions with council vice-chairperson Rajan Gurukkal and member secretary Rajan Varughese. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for academic collaborations between institutions in Malta and Kerala.
Both sides highlighted complementary strengths of their respective higher education ecosystems and expressed interest in fostering partnerships in research, academic exchange and cultural cooperation. With English serving as the primary medium of instruction in both regions, the absence of a language barrier was noted as a key enabler for seamless academic exchanges.
The discussions emphasised the shared commitment to expanding international linkages and enhancing the global engagement of higher education institutions.
The visit of the High Commissioner marked an important step in internationalising Kerala’s higher education sector through academic, cultural and research ties, a pressnote stated.
