A 23-year-old man was nabbed for stealing two-wheelers by the South-West Zone Task Force team, along with Borabanda police. Officials have recovered five stolen motorcycles valued at ₹2.50 lakh from him.
Inspector G. Santosh Kumar of the South-West Zone Task Force said that Manjul Tushar, 23, a resident of Borabanda, was storing the stolen bikes with Mohd Waheed, 22, of Suleman Nagar in Chintalmet.
“Tushar first committed theft at his own residence by stealing gold ornaments belonging to his mother from an almirah. He later travelled to Madhya Pradesh, where he sold the stolen gold and spent all the money,” said the officer.
Tushar studied up to Class XII and later worked at various places doing petty jobs, including as a helper in hotels. Over time, he developed habits of smoking, consuming alcohol and marijuana, and engaged in online betting games. “To fund his vices, he turned to theft after exhausting the proceeds from selling the gold ornaments,” added the officer.
The accused allegedly began stealing two wheelers from various areas across Hyderabad including Madhura Nagar, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Alwal and SR Nagar police station limits. The stolen bikes were parked at the residence of Mohd Waheed, who was allegedly acting as a receiver and was keeping the vehicles for further disposal.
During patrolling in the Borabanda area on December 18, a joint team of the South West Zone Task Force and Borabanda police intercepted the accused and took them into custody.
