In a vigilant operation, the Railway Protection Force, in collaboration with commercial staff, detained Harshvardhan Bhardwaj for masquerading as a Train Ticket Examiner on the Mysore-Darbhanga Express. This individual was caught in the act of soliciting bribes from unsuspecting passengers.
Patna: A special team of railway protection force (RPF) intelligence wing, along with the commercial staff of the Samastipur division of East Central Railway, arrested a man for allegedly extorting money from passengers, posing as a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) aboard Mysore-Darbhanga Express (12578).The arrest followed complaints from passengers, prompting the special team to conduct a raid on the general coach of the Mysore-Darbhanga Express, from which accused Harshvardhan Bhardwaj, 43, a resident of Begusarai district, was caught red-handed while collecting money from passengers by posing as a TTE, Samastipur PRO R K Singh said.He was handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP), Samastipur, he added.The railway authorities have urged passengers to remain vigilant and immediately inform the nearest railway staff, RPF or GRP if they notice anyone impersonating railway officials or engaging in similar fraudulent activities. The railway sources said that timely information from passengers plays a crucial role in curbing such offences and ensuring a safe travel.
