A five-year-old girl was allegedly tied, beaten and burnt by her father in Mumbai with a cigarette for not going to bed in time. A case was registered against the man for voluntarily hurting his daughter with dangerous substances under Sections 115(2) and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case came to light when the complainant received a disturbing video from the man's wife around 2:45 pm, showing the accused brutally assaulting their daughter.
The father could be seen tying the girl's legs, assaulting her and burning her cheek with a cigarette.
Alarmed by the video, the complainant rushed to the Mankhurd Police Station, and played the video, seeking police intervention to stop the abuse.
Accompanying the complainant, a woman police officer reached the accused's house for an enquiry and confronted the father. During the questioning, the girl revealed that she was tortured by her father as she was not sleeping on time.
Taking prompt action, the police have filed a case and have begun legal proceedings against the father. The investigation is ongoing, with the police assuring them that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.
