Man undergoing treatment after failed suicide bid kills self in Namakkal hospital

NAMAKKAL: A man, who had been undergoing treatment after his failed suicide attempt by consuming a pesticide at his home on Sept 14, killed himself by hanging from the ceiling of a restroom at Namakkal Government Medical College and Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as V Ramesh,52, of Rangappanaickenpalayam near Namakkal. He was a worker in a poultry farm.Police said Ramesh had harassed a woman frequently under the influence. The woman's family members assaulted him on Sept 13. The woman lodged a complaint against Ramesh with the Nallipalayam police. Feeling distressed, Ramesh consumed a pesticide mixed in water to kill himself. He was rushed to Namakkal Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Around 3am on Wednesday, he went to a restroom and did not return even after two hours. Hospital staff members looked through a gap on the door of the restroom and found him hanging from the ceiling. They notified the Nallipalayam police, who arrived at the spot and retrieved Ramesh's body. The police registered a case and began investigations.
