A 28-year-old man from Proddatur was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday (December 19) for murdering his relative for advising him to quit alcohol and behave. Additional District Judge (II) K. Satya Kumari also slapped on him a fine of ₹10,000.
According to the prosecution, on October 24, 2021, Sarva Narasimhudu (36) from Jammalamadugu advised the convict, Illuru Nagaraju, to quit drinking and be good to all. Angered, Nagaraju took Narasimhudu for a walk, killed him and returned home as if nothing had happened. Narasimhudu’s body was later found in a mango orchard. Following a complaint, the Jammalamadugu police registered a case and launched an investigaiton, leading to the man’s arrest.
Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath lauded the Jammalamadugu police and Public Prosecutor M. Sudhakar Reddy for securing conviction.
