Mili Mohan to be Kozhikode district panchayat president; K.K. Navas vice president

The United Democratic Front (UDF) on Friday (December 19) announced its candidates for various key posts in the Kozhikode Corporation and the Kozhikode district panchayat.

District Congress Committee president K. Praveen Kumar and M.K. Muneer, MLA, declared the various candidates at two separate press conferences. Accordingly, the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will share the post of the district panchayat president. Mili Mohan of the Congress will hold the post for the initial two-and-a-half years, while the League candidate will take over later.

K.K. Navas of the IUML will be the district panchayat vice president.

S.K. Aboobakker of the Congress will be the official Mayor candidate of the United Democratic Front (UDF) while Fathima Thahliya of the IUML will be the deputy Mayor candidate. The Congress and the IUML will share the position of the UDF council party leader. Shalmeel Thangal of the IUML will hold the post for the first two-and-a-half years. Manakkal Sasi will be the Congress council party leader, while P. Sakeer will be the IUML council party leader. Kavita Arun will be a candidate for the post of a standing committee chairperson.
