Miscreants open fire on Manipur village

Imphal: Tension engulfed the Churachandpur-Bishnupur border areas in Manipur late Tuesday night following an attack by suspected armed miscreants. The assailants reportedly opened fire towards Torbung in Bishnupur district, a village that was the epicenter of violence in May 2023.There are no reports of casualties yet.Sources said the attackers used bombs and fired several rounds of ammunition around 8:40 pm. Security forces reportedly retaliated in response to the assault. According to local residents from Phougakchao Ikhai and Torbung, the attack persisted for more than 20 minutes.In the wake of the incident, additional security forces have been deployed to the area.
