Motorcycle collides with 4-wheeler on Zuari bridge, 2 dead

Vasco/Mapusa: Two men employed as security guards by a company at Verna IDC died when their motorcycle collided with a car on the Zuari bridge near Cortalim on Sunday morning.

Verna police said K H Bikram Singha, 23, was riding the motorcycle, and S Pariton Singha, 21, was riding pillion.

Both were residents of Cortalim and natives of Assam died in the accident.Bikram, cops said, lost control of the motorbike on the bridge while riding towards Verna and hit a divider before crashing into a car in the opposite lane. “Their motorcycle collided against a car that was heading towards Panaji. Both sustained grievous injuries and died while being taken to GMC,” police said.Meanwhile, Mandrem police, on Sunday, arrested tempo driver Javed Khan, 53, from Valpoi, for alleged rash and negligent driving after he knocked down pedestrian Govind Nurse (78), at Arambol on Saturday evening.After the pedestrian was killed on the spot, locals gathered at the police station demanding action against the tempo driver. who had fled from the site after the accident. Some locals said bad road conditions in the area have been the cause of some accidents in addition to rash and negligent driving.
