Nadda blames Lalu for migration, slams Congress over ‘filthy mindset’

BJP president J P Nadda upon his arrival at Patna airport on Saturday

Patna: BJP president J P Nadda on Saturday launched a sharp attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad, blaming him for mass migration from Bihar, while also accusing the Congress and its allies of lowering the political discourse with repeated insults directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother.Speaking at a media conclave in Patna, Nadda, who is also the Union health minister, recalled Lalu’s remarks on roads and migration. “Lalu, in the name of development, used to say if roads are built, the police will reach quickly and the animals’ hooves will get damaged. He used to glorify migration by saying ‘people of Bihar go wearing gamchhas and return wearing suits. RJD has not apologised till date,” he said.Nadda alleged that the opposition had “brought politics to a low level.”

He said, “The way abusive words were used for the Prime Minister’s late mother and no one has expressed regret till date. This tells about their character. The AI-generated video released by the Congress is proof that this is their thinking.” He added that such actions showed the “filthy mindset” of the opposition. “They will get a befitting reply from the people,” Nadda said.Targeting Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Nadda accused him of “inconsistency” over allegations of manipulation in voter lists during the special intensive revision exercise.

“Sometimes, he alleges 70 lakh voters were added ahead of assembly polls in Maharashtra, and at other times, he puts the number at one crore,” Nadda said.On the RJD rule in the state, Nadda said, “We all know about jungle raj, but whenever we discuss it, people tell us to forget it. Maybe people will forget it, but for us it is not going to be forgotten... Jungle raj, appeasement and casteism, all these have plagued Bihar.”

He added that during the 15-year regime of Lalu and Rabri Devi, engineers, professionals and businessmen were afraid to return while students faced delays in university examinations.Taking a swipe at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, he said, “Tejashwi got the opportunity to be a part of the govt twice, but the lack of coordination was clearly visible in his working style. Especially in important departments like health, schemes remained stalled and the common people could not get benefits.”Praising the NDA regime, he said Bihar had taken “a new path of development” under CM Nitish Kumar. He highlighted GST reforms led by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and said, “So far 144 Vande Bharat trains have been started, out of which 20 are connected to Bihar.”Nadda also underscored achievements of the Modi govt, including the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, housing for the poor, and the provision of tap water to 14 crore households.(With agency inputs)
