K. Prathapa Reddy, a banker with more than two decades of experience in the State Bank of India (SBI), has assumed charge as Chairman of Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB).

A Deputy General Manager of SBI, the 51-year old Mr. Reddy took over as Chairman of the regional rural bank from Y. Sobha. He will have a tenure of three years, TGB said in a release on Friday.

Mr. Reddy comes with a wide ranging expertise in operational and administration areas as well as commercial credit operations. He has also served as head of the agriculture development branch and retail assets centralised processing centre of SBI in Hyderabad.

For two years, he was also Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank. The Telangana part of APGVB operations was recently amalgamated into TGB.

TGB is sponsored by SBI and its total business as on March 31 was ₹73,791 crore. It is one of the most profitable RRBs in the country and for 2024-25 posted a net profit of ₹675 crore and reported a capital adequacy ratio of 25.42%. It is India’s most profitable RRBs.
