New Year celebrations remain peaceful in Ranchi

On New Year's Eve, Ranchi transformed into a serene hub of celebration, bolstered by robust security protocols. Authorities excelled in their commitment to public safety, with law enforcement proactively curtailing traffic rule breaches and any potential chaos.

Ranchi: New Year celebrations were peaceful in the city on Thursday as the district administration made foolproof security arrangements, and no untoward incident was reported till late evening.

Police were carrying out checking drives to prevent speeding, drunk driving, and other law and order violations.Executive magistrate Md Jafar Hasnaat, who was in charge of the district control room, said, “No incident has been reported from any part of the district. The administration will keep vigil on Friday as well.”On New Year’s Day, the administration was on high vigil to prevent mishaps and law and order infringements during the revelries in the district.

Magistrates and police forces were positioned at over 60 places.Moreover, magistrates and police personnel were also deployed at 27 popular picnic spots in Ranchi, including Rock Garden, Kanke Dam, Sidhhu Kanho Park, Macchli Park, Nakshtra Van, Dhurwa Dam, Deori Mandir, Surya Mandir, Hundru Falls, Johna Falls, Sita Falls, Rukka Dam, and Patratu Valley.Police personnel were also positioned at 36 lesser-known spots.

Additional force was also allocated to over a dozen police stations as a stand-by.SP (rural) Praveen Pushkar said, “All the picnic spots located in the remote areas of the district were vacated before sunset by appealing to the picnickers. Had the revellers been allowed to remain till dark, it could have led to law and order issues like eve-teasing. Some of the routes pass through forests as well.”Four ambulances with adequate number of doctors, medical team and medicines were stationed at the control room.The officials were asked to ensure that the picnickers did not perform boating, water sports and swimming without life jackets. They were also asked to prevent rash driving and crime against women.
