Collector K. Vetri Selvi has said that there was no shortage of fertilizers in Eluru district, and asked the farmers to take fertilizers as per their requirements.
Ms. Vetri Selvi reviewed about stock position with the primary agriculture cooperative societies and dealers, distribution system in various mandals. She directed the Agriculture department officers to set up check posts at district and State borders to check illegal transportation of fertilizers.
“Stern action would be taken against the dealers and those who maintain illegal stocks or sell fertilizers at higher prices,” the Collector warned during a meeting with the officers on Saturday.
Ms. Vetri Selvi said the required stocks have been despatched to the dealers and the societies, and directed the Agriculture Officers to monitor the supply of fertilizers at all points.
Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore inspected Bhimadole Society and Lakshmi Ganapathi Fertilizers in the district, and enquired about the stock position.
The SP, along with District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) Chairman Ganni Veeranjaneyulu, Vigilance and Enforcement DSP Venkateswara Rao, Bhimadole CI U.J. Wilson and agriculture officers, verified the ledgers.
Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore and the DSP asked the society members about the available stocks, and the details of the farmers to whom fertilizers were distributed.
Farmers are requested to call over Mobile Nos. 85004 21967 or 89850 21117 to enquire about stock position or complain on illegal sale of fertilizers, the Agriculture department officials said.
