Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu on Thursday asked the engineering officials to give a priority to clearing the major outfall drains to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon. He announced that a 24-hour helpline (0863-2345103) has been set up for the citizens to report rain-related problems.

The Municipal Commissioner inspected developmental and sanitation works at Nallapadu Road outfall drain, Sriram Nagar Road, SVN Colony, and Vidya Nagar. He instructed the officials to act swiftly to prevent water stagnation in low-lying areas through coordinated efforts of engineering and public health departments.

Highlighting the need for an uninterrupted supply of drinking water, Mr. Srinivasulu asked the Assistant Engineers to take precautionary measures to avoid supply disruptions during power outages.

He stressed regular removal of debris from outfall drains and ordered urban planning officials to clear encroachments at free left and right points in areas like Nallapadu Road and SVN Colony.

Ward Secretariats have been instructed to prepare action plans for clearing the construction debris, while sanitation staff were told to ensure prompt disposal of waste without creating roadside dumping points.

Corporator Achchala Venkat Reddy, Executive Engineer Koteswara Rao, and officials from urban planning, engineering, public health, and ward secretariats accompanied the Municipal Commissioner during the inspection.
