Kapil Mishra alleged that Kejriwal is misusing the Punjab administration by filing false FIRs against BJP leaders to hide this sin.

"The one who committed the crime is absconding and missing..." he said while sharing a missing poster of Atishi in a post on X.

Delhi Cabinet Minister and BJP leader Kapil Mishra on Tuesday launched a scathing attack at AAP leader Atishi over the ongoing row on the latter’s alleged remarks on Guru Tegh Bahadur, and released a missing poster featuring the former Chief Minister, saying that she committed a crime and is now absconding and missing.

“The one who committed the crime is absconding and missing…" he said while sharing a missing poster of Atishi in a post on X.

While addressing a press conference, the Delhi minister accused the AAP leadership of remaining silent on the issue and said they would not remain silent about what he called a serious matter. He criticised Atishi over her alleged remarks on Guru Tegh Bahadur, saying AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal should have asked her to apologise.

“On 6th January, a sin was committed in the Delhi Assembly, when the Leader of Opposition used derogatory words during a debate on the 350 years of the sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. Since that day, Atishi has gone missing; she has been ordered not to come before the media," he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

He further alleged that Kejriwal is misusing the Punjab administration by filing false FIRs against BJP leaders to hide this sin.

“To hide this sin, on orders of Arvind Kejriwal, the systems of the Punjab government and the Punjab Police are being misused. I want to tell Bhagwant Mann ji, don’t become a party to this sin…The way Atishi has gone missing after this means that what she did was deliberate…We will not remain quiet on this issue. Arvind Kejriwal should have asked Atishi to apologise on this matter. I want to tell Atishi to come before the media," he added.

AAP Demands Apology From Mishra

Meanwhile, AAP demanded an apology from the minister on Tuesday, claiming that it was he who in the first place was insulting the Sikh Guru and manipulated the Leader of Opposition’s statement.

Through the X post, Aam Aadmi Party stated, “Insult to Gurus, India will not tolerate !! Kapil Mishra will have to apologise.", with a poster of Kapil Mishra in the X post.

On Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest outside the BJP headquarters in New Delhi over the alleged circulation of a doctored video of Atishi. Several AAP MLAs and party leaders were detained by the police during the demonstration.

What’s The Row?

The controversy centred on a video clip of Delhi assembly proceedings involving Atishi, which AAP claimed was maliciously doctored by BJP leaders to incite religious tension and defame the party.

Kapil Mishra and several party colleagues circulated a clip on social media, and alleged that Atishi had made “indecent" and “insensitive" remarks regarding the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, during a discussion marking his 350th martyrdom anniversary.

The BJP has since demanded Atishi’s immediate disqualification from the House and the registration of a criminal case, with senior leaders asserting that “Hindustan will not tolerate insults to the Gurus".

Meanwhile, countered with a forceful defence, presenting what it claimed was the original footage of the session. Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that Atishi did not even utter the word “Guru" or “Guruon" in the segment cited by the BJP.

Later, Punjab Police filed an FIR against Mishra and others for uploading and circulating an “edited and doctored" video of Atishi.

Further, Delhi Assembly took cognisance of the FIR and said strict action will be taken against the Jalandhar police commissioner.

“This (the FIR and use of the clip) amounts to a breach of privilege, and strict action will be taken against the Jalandhar police commissioner, because the video clip is a property of the Delhi Assembly. We are taking cognisance of this matter," Speaker Vijender Gupta said.
