Over 97 lakh voters deleted from Tamil Nadu draft electoral roll after SIR

The Election Commission of India has published the integrated draft electoral roll for Tamil Nadu with 97.37 lakh voters deleted in the draft roll after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, according to Chief Election Officer (CEO) Archana Patnaik.

The total number of voters as of October 27, 2025 was 6,41,14,587. According to the draft roll published on Friday (December 19, 2025), the total number of electors in the State is 5,43,76,756. The total number of voters removed after the exercise stands at 97,37,831.

The total number of deceased voters identified is 26,94,672. As many as 66,44,881 voters have either shifted or were absent during the exercise. A total of 3,39,278 voters have been found enrolled in multiple places.

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) released the draft electoral roll for 16 constituencies in the Chennai district, listing a total of 25,79,676 voters. This includes 12,47,690 male voters, 13,31,243 female voters, and 743 transperson voters. A total of 14,25,018 voter names have been deleted due to reasons such as death, relocation, duplication, and absence.
