Satara Doctor Suicide: One Accused Arrested, PSI Badane Absconding, Family Demands SIT Probe

This special report focuses on the suicide of a 28-year-old doctor in Satara, Maharashtra, and the subsequent investigation that has led to the arrest of one accused, Prashant Bankar. In a note, the doctor accused police sub-inspector Gopal Badane of repeated sexual assault and Bankar of mental and physical harassment. The family alleges a cover-up and is 'clearly demanding a thorough probe, a CID probe, a special investigation team probe and also in all angles of the pressure which was being meant on her by politicians or by policemen and why her complaint was not acted upon.' They claim she was pressured to alter medical reports, and that her previous complaints were ignored, leading her to feel helpless. The main accused, PSI Badane, has been suspended and is currently absconding, while political leaders have called for a swift and independent investigation into the case.
