New Delhi: Perplexity’s AI browser, which we all know as Comet, is now officially available on iPhones. Comet is an AI-powered browser that is especially designed to act as a personal assistant and thinking partner. An AI-powered browser also adapts to how users think and work, and learns habits to help keep them organized.
Comet AI browser was released in November last year, and it is already available on Mac, Windows, and Android. It is now rolling out for the iPhones that are running iOS 18 or later versions.
Comet is a browser for agentic search, which is built to handle multi-step tasks with minimal input from the users. Rather than relying only on the traditional search queries, Comet uses Perplexity’s AI-powered search engine to generate responses by compiling information from across the web.
Agentic search refers to systems capable of interpreting intent by gathering information from multiple locations and performing chained actions autonomously.
Comet moves browsing beyond the simple page viewing to a more interactive experience, Conversation-driven experience. It is to bring everything into a single interface that understands user intent by reducing the need to switch between multiple tabs or separate applications.
It can also handle entire browsing sessions by helping to organize tasks, simplify workflows, and reduce interruptions by including ads.
This browser has been positioned as being useful for comparing products by conducting research or working through more complicated queries. The side-panel assistant can generate page summaries, respond to questions, and carry out actions such as booking hotels, sending emails, or completing online purchases.
There is also an integrated assistant that will deliver context-aware responses based on whatever content is currently displayed on the screen.
