Poll arrangements for 2025 Kerala local body elections: State Election Commission to meet political parties on October 29

The State Election Commission will meet political parties on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) to discuss the arrangements for the 2025 local body elections in Kerala.

The Commission headed by A. Shajahan said that national and State-level parties can send one representative each to the meeting which will be held at Hotel Mascot in the State capital.

The Commission has not yet announced the schedule for the elections, but it is expected that Kerala will go to the polling booths either towards the end of November or early December.

Number of voters

As per the final voters’ list published by the Commission, Kerala has 2,84,30,761 voters in all. Malappuram and Wayanad have not bucked the trend this time too when it comes to the highest and lowest numbers of voters. Of the 2,84,30,761 crore voters in Kerala for the 2025 local body polls, Malappuram district accounts for 35,74,802 voters, the highest in the State. Wayanad has the lowest, 6,40,183 voters, according to an updated district-wise break-up of the final electoral roll released by the Commission.

The Commission had published the final voters list on Saturday (October 25, 2025) night. The Commission also released the district-wise break-up on Sunday (October 26, 2025).

Of the 281 transgender voters in the State, Malappuram also accounts for the highest number - 49. Wayanad has the lowest with 8.

Overall, as per the latest revision, of the 2.84 crore voters in Kerala, 1,50,18,010 are women, 1,34,12,470 are men and 281 are transgender voters. Overseas electors number 2,841.

The distrct-wise break-up is as follows: Thiruvananthapuram (29,04,092), Kollam (22,54,848), Pathanamthitta (10,54,752), Alappuzha (17,89,549), Kottayam (16,29,096), Idukki (9,07,102), Ernakulam (26,47,066), Thrissur (27,36,862), Palakkad (24,11,914), Malappuram (35,74,802), Kozhikode (26,63,817), Wayanad (6,40,183), Kannur (21,14,668), and Kasaragod (11,02,010).

The list was revised with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for enrollment. The list is applicable to 17,337 wards in 941 grama panchayats, 3,240 wards in 87 municipalities, and 421 wards in six Corporations.
