French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron plan to submit "photographic and scientific evidence" in a US court to counter claims that Brigitte was born male, BBC reported, citing the lawyer representing them in a defamation case.The couple filed the suit in July against US commentator Candace Owens and her business, accusing them of making repeated defamatory statements.Owens, a conservative political commentator with about 4.5 million subscribers on YouTube, has claimed that Brigitte Macron was born male and transitioned before marrying Emmanuel Macron. She said last year she would "stake [her] entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man" named Jean-Michel Trogneux, and later produced an eight-part podcast series repeating the allegation.Tom Clare, the couple’s lawyer from the firm Clare Locke, told the BBC’s Fame under Fire podcast that Brigitte Macron found the claims "incredibly upsetting" and that they had become a "distraction" for the French president.Clare said: "Expert testimony will come out that will be scientific in nature." He did not specify the form of the testimony but added the couple were prepared to show, "both generically and specifically," that the claims were false.

"It is a process that she will have to subject herself to in a very public way," he said. "But she is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight." He added that photos of Brigitte Macron pregnant and raising her children would be presented.According to The Guardian, the Macrons’ suit states that Jean-Michel Trogneux is Brigitte Macron’s elder brother and lives in Amiens, northern France, where he grew up with her and four other siblings.

He attended Emmanuel Macron’s presidential inaugurations in 2017 and 2022.Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron first met at the high school where he was a student and she was a teacher. At that time, she was Brigitte Auzière, married and raising three children.Emmanuel Macron, 47, is serving his second and final presidential term. Brigitte Macron turned 72 in April.
